杀手杀人总有个价钱，从最低的几万元起至几千万，但最近出现了一个奇怪的杀手，他不收酬金，但杀的都是该杀的权贵，传闻他自称为“炽天使”，但杀手界却尊称他为“杀手之王”... 当年侵略中国的一日本人在香港被“挚天使”杀害。杀手（李连杰）为了得到酬金找出了“挚天使”，原来“挚天使”是一香港专杀坏人的警察指挥官。李连杰后来与“挚天使”一同杀死了想杀“挚天使”独得酬金的日本暴徒，成为第二代“挚天使”――杀手之王。
